25th, Suey

The high school yearbook affirms the girl’s consistency. She had always been great with conversations; she fills the classroom with laughter. You could just sit and watch her the whole day as she combines her childlike ways with her hilarious antics; she could give you a terrible case of stomach ache and jaw pain. She is always known to be very outgoing and approachable. And for her classmates in Agriculture/Fishery Arts, she is Janice’s “very hardworking” plot partner.

The high school yearbook also tells us of a catch: her system lacks a lot of memory chips. Imagine how her retainers ended up in somebody’s garden (there’s a fridge version to that, too), her eyeglasses inside her school shoes, etcetera etcetera. As her officemates would put, “Kung pwede lang mabilin lang ang char somewhere, ikapila na siguro sya nabuntis”.

For us, she always feels like home – a warm company, full of insights, never afraid to share herself to others. At 25, she exudes grace and sophistication in thoughts and deed. At the same time, she rocks every barkada hang out, befriending kuya waiters and catching up with the juice and saging vendors outside USEP. And they still remember her as the girl from Lab School.

At 25, she is super and extraordinary, seemingly overdosed with Vitamin C, full of humor even when under pressure, bubbly even when it’s past midnight. At 25, she's highly accomplished, not only in the career one has chosen, but also in the realm of touching lives and inspiring souls. It is no wonder why she’s everybody’s best friend.

To the light of our lives, happy birthday, dear Suey. May you always be blessed multi fold.

(This is the part where we raise our Jagermeister tubes to make a toast, then bottoms up.)
